Panchayat-level Tree Committee
A Tree Committee has been constituted at the Panchayat level to protect trees standing on public roads and public places, and to prevent accidents that may occur due to trees or their branches being uprooted or falling down.
Tree Committees at the Panchayat level have been constituted as per Circular No. 248/RC3/2016/LSGD dated 14.07.2017 issued by the Local Self Government Department. At present, when the permission of the District-level Tree Committee is required for the removal of trees, the local-level Tree Committee functions to avoid delays and to take timely decisions in emergency situations.

Key Responsibilities
- Check whether trees and branches in public places pose any risk or danger.
- Take necessary action regarding trees that pose a threat to the life and property of the public.
- Direct owners to remove dangerous trees situated on privately owned properties.
- In case of non-compliance with the direction, initiate appropriate legal action and recover the expenses from the concerned person.
- Ensure that the valuation of trees being removed is carried out through the Forest Department.
- Coordinate tree protection activities within the jurisdiction of the Panchayat and ensure a safe environment.
The Panchayat-level Tree Committee functions with the objective of ensuring both public safety and environmental protection.
